Crumble biscuits into a bowl. Stir in sugar and fruit. Pour over milk and stir well. Leave for a few hours or overnight in the fridge.
Add flour and beaten egg to the soaked mixture. Beat well and transfer into a greased and bottom-lined 900g loaf tin (that's about a 2lb one).
Bake in a preheated 180 C / Gas 4 oven for about 1 hour 30 minutes, middle shelf, until a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the centre.
Optional: after turning out of tin while still warm spread top with honey or marmalade and sprinkle with brown sugar. Even if you don't like Weetabix® give it a try. Delicious with butter on it and a slice of cheese on the side.
