About this recipe:
An easy, basic recipe for cheesy Cheddar scones. Sprinkle extra cheese over top, if liked. You could add some chilli powder for a kick.
250g self raising flour
85g grated Cheddar cheese

Rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the milk, then the cheese. Mix gently till the dough comes together.
Remove from bowl and gently roll out to about 2cm thick on a floured work surface. Cut out into circles using a cutter or glass. Transfer the scones to a greased baking tray.
Bake in a preheated 230 C / Gas 8 oven till risen and golden, about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with extra cheese, if desired.
Very easy recipe to follow and yummy scones. I added smoked paprika, curry powder and chopped jalapeños for a bit of a kick and it worked really well. On my 2nd attempt I added 1 teaspoon of baking powder to help them rise as I found they didn't rise much on my 1st go.
