About this recipe:I made them for the first time last Christmas, and they tasted great! When cooked but not yet cooled, you can use a skewer to make a hole at the top. Cool completely, then thread ribbon through, wrap in foil and decorate with stickers, and hang on the Christmas tree!
100g salted butter
100g soft brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1 teaspoon baking powder
300g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger

Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
Beat the butter and sugar together. Mix in beaten eggs and syrup. Sift in the dry ingredients and stir well to form a dough. Roll out thinly and use Christmas cutters to press into shapes - eg trees, stars.
Place on a lightly greased baking tray and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until firm to the touch.
