About this recipe: Ketchup, aka red sauce, sweet and tangy, tomato based with vinegar and sweetener to keep it sugar free. Good on chips and burgers. I have even used it as a base for a pizza.

Serves: 8 

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 2 teaspoons celery salt
  • 6 basil leaves, chopped
  • 4 sweetener packets
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 150ml red wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:55min 

  1. Cook the onions in a pan for 3 minutes on a low heat in a bit of oil, stirring continuously.
  2. Add the minced garlic and continue to stir for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the tin of tomatoes followed by the rest of ingredients and simmer for 45 minutes.
  4. Blend the mixture then sieve mixture into a clean jar.
  5. When cooled store in the fridge.
