Glorious garlic bread

    15 min

I've been making my own garlic bread for a long time, and my family seem to agree that it's pretty good by now. Let me know what you think.

    10 people made this

    Serves: 4

    • 1 small French baguette, sliced
    • 100g butter
    • 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
    • dried oregano to taste
    • dried parsley to taste
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 1 pinch black pepper
    • grated mozzarella cheese (optional)

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min

    1. Turn on oven or grill to around 200 C / Gas 6.
    2. Put butter and oil into a pot and keep on a very low heat.
    3. When the butter has melted, add garlic, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper.
    4. Dip each piece of bread into the butter and put on a baking tray.
    5. Put into oven until slightly golden, around 10 minutes.
    6. If you want to, put chunks of mozzarella on top of the garlic bread before taking out and leave in for an extra couple of minutes. Truth be told most cheeses will do the trick, but is delicious with mozzarella.
    7. Have the time of your life!

As the retired househusband I had half a French stick tiger type left over from yesterday so rather than bin it I sliced it and dipped it in your recipe and then toasted it in the oven for ten minutes along with the main ."brilliant "  -  10 Feb 2015
