Homemade cheese and onion sandwiches

    This is a quick and simple recipe for cheese and onion sandwiches that is easy to make and feeds a whole family!

    Makes: 4 sandwiches

    • 1 block Red Leicester or Double Gloucester cheese
    • 1 medium red onion
    • 1 to 3 tablespoons plain yoghurt
    • salt and pepper (optional)
    • 8 slices bread

    1. Grate the cheese using a grater into a container.
    2. Top and tail an onion and remove all outer skin. Grate the onion into the container with the cheese and stir.
    3. Add the yoghurt and mix until you get a creamy texture. Add salt and pepper if you like.
    4. Spread onto on slice of bread and cover with another. Repeat with remaining ingredients to make 4 sandwiches.


    Alternatively, you could use a block of spicy cheese instead of normal cheese.

    Kept the concept, but changes made, Goat Cheese/Sheep Yoghurt on a wheatfree/yeastfree flatbread. Thanks for the extra ideas.  -  25 May 2015
