A simple yet tasty pizza to make from scratch! This pizza can be made quicker than it would take to order one from a takeaway. Its great fun to make with children and gets them involved with cooking, or ideal for a weekend treat.
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water & stir til creamy, leave for 10 mins & then combine with the remainder of the dough ingredients in a large floured bowl. Mix well to create a strong elastic dough. Cover with a cloth and leave to stand in a warm place to double in size
For the sauce, saute the onions in a frying pan in a little olive oil. Add the tinned tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, garlic and chilli to the pan. Stir constantly until warmed through. Place in a blender or alternatively sieve to create a smoother sauce if preferred.
Roll out the pizza base on a dusted surface and spoon the sauce from the centre of the base to the outer, leave an inch gap to create a crust on the outside.
Top the pizza with your favourite toppings, taking care not to overload the pizza as this may cause the base to under cook in the centre and will remain soggy. Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese to suit
Place in the oven on a pizza tray on your ovens highest setting. The pizza will take 10 -15 mins to cook. Keep checking to avoid burning the pizza.
