    This is an easy and quick way to satisfy the appetite of teenagers everywhere. The Yorkshire Big One filled with tasty mash, vegetables and gravy or a healthy stew always gets the thumbs up and stops the fridge grazing of those perennially hungry creatures around you.

    Serves: 2 

    • 1 large egg
    • 1/3 cup (80 ml) of plain flour
    • 1/2 cup (125 ml) of semi-skimmed milk
    • pinch of grated sea salt
    • teaspoon of goose fat

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. pre-heat oven to 200° C (392° F)
    2. put the goose fat in a 20 cm (8 inch) high sided circular baking tin
    3. put the other ingredients in a bowl and whisk until the mixture is runny without flour lumps - 30 seconds should do it
    4. place the tin with the goose fat in the pre-heated oven for a few minutes until the fat begins to smoke
    5. pour the flour/milk mixture in the tin and place in the middle of the oven
    6. cook for 30 minutes - do not open the oven before the time is up !!
    7. take the tin out of the oven and let the pudding cool down for 30 minutes


    instead of goose fat you can use beef dripping or a good quality/high boiling point cooking oil
