Marble cake with marble sauce
This amazing cake will blow you away. A good summer bake. You can use plain chocolate or milk chocolate for the marble sauce.
Ingredients
Makes: 1 cake
- 200g butter or margarine
- 200g caster suger
- 200g self raising flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 chocolate bar
- 1 white chocolate bar

- Set the oven for 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a cake tin.
- Beat together 100g of butter and 100g of sugar. Beat in two eggs, then sieve in 100g of flour gradually.
- Get a different bowl and add the remaining butter and sugar; beat well. Beat in the remaining eggs, then sieve in the remaining flour and the cocoa powder.
- Alternately spoon the two mixtures into the prepared tray. Do not mix. You can draw a skewer through the mixture at the end to create a further marbled effect.
- Bake the cake in to the oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool.
- For the sauce, melt the white chocolate and milk chocolate separately (you can do this in the microwave using short 30-second bursts).
- Slice the cake horizontally to get two halves. Place the bottom half on a serving plate, then top with the two chocolates. Place the second layer on top and drizzle with any remaining chocolate.

Brilliant recipe. I used dairy free butter and dairy free chocolate but recipe was so easy and went down the treat. (had to stop the kids eating the batter lol.) - 25 Feb 2015
