About this recipe: Ok, so this is not my mum's recipe, it is actually my own recipe created from favourite recipes I've collected. But, I'm a mother, hence 'mum's chocolate cake'. It's a yummy chocolate cake which you can use with your favourite buttercream chocolate filling/topping. It's very simple to make and creates a great birthday/celebration cake.
If the cake wobbles when gently shook in the oven it is not ready. Leave for about 5 minutes longer :). Enjoy!!!
When making my favourite buttercream icing, I usually refrigerate the mixture overnight and apply inside and outside of the cake the next day. To apply evenly put the mixture in microwave to warm up as its quite solid, 30 seconds usually does it for me. You want it soft not wet so be careful.
