Mix together the yeast, flour, sugar and salt. Rub in the butter then add the remaining ingredients, setting aside a little cheese for sprinkling on top, and mix to a dough.
Put the dough onto a well floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. Shape the dough to fit a greased loaf tin and leave to prove in a warm place for about an hour, until doubled in size. Sprinkle the cheese you set aside on top.
Preheat the oven to 220 C / Gas 8.
Bake in a preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes. If the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom, it is baked all the way through.
