Simple and tasty chocolate brownies

    These simple chocolate brownies are so simple and easy to make, everyone will love them. Add some pecans or chocolate chips, your choice.

    Serves: 8 

    • 2 eggs
    • 225g (8 oz) caster sugar
    • 110g (4 oz) butter
    • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 110g (4 oz) self-raising flour
    • 55g (2 oz) chopped pecans or chocolate chips

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a 20cm (8 in) square cake tin then line it with baking parchment.
    2. Beat the eggs and the sugar in a bowl, until light and fluffy.
    3. Melt the butter in a saucepan at a low heat or in the microwave and pour into the egg mixture when melted. Add the cocoa powder and mix. Sift the flour and fold into the mixture along with the pecans or chocolate chips. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top.
    4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.

    Made these, and they were delicious, although I only baked them for 20 minutes and I still feel they were overdone. I guess it's all about preference. Whether you like your brownies cakey or fudgy.  -  06 Jun 2015


    Very good brownies and so easy too! However, I found that these brownies took only about 30 mins to cook though, so worth keeping an eye on them whilst they cook.  -  17 May 2014
