- Combine the mince, egg, salt, pepper, rum flavouring and sugar to bowl. Mix the ingredients by hand making sure everything combines.
- Split mixture in half, then into quarters to make 4 big patties or divide once more for 8 small patties.
- Set the hob to high and put a little oil in a frying pan. Once the oil begins to sizzle, place as many patties fit comfortably in the pan. Pay attention to the pan, turn over patties after 5 minutes. If the flipped side is light brown turn over again in 5 minutes (once the other side is done). Cook until desired colour/ the middle is cooked. If you are unsure, cut open a patty to make sure. Press down on the patties with your spatula/fork if you wish to rid of excess oils. Once the patties are cooked, serve.
If rum flavouring is not available in your local shops, try searching online or in speciality shops.
Optional: Regarding sides, I put these bad boys in bread rolls but you can serve yours with chips, salad, rice or anything you fancy.
If you are going to cook them later, place down a piece of greaseproof paper on a plate, lay down half the patties, place another sheet on top and place the second half of the patties then cover with tin foil and place in the fridge until cooking.
