    About this recipe: Delicious chocolate and coffee sauce. If you have leftover chocolate from baking or otherwise, you can use it to make this sauce for desserts. Makes about 300 ml (half a pint).

    Ingredients

    • 1tbsp instant coffee granules or powder
    • 1tbsp boiling water
    • 100g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate (about 70% cocoa solids) chopped or broken up
    • 175ml(6fl oz) single cream
    • 1tbsp icing sugar

    Method

    1. Dissolve the coffee granules or powder in the boiling water in a small pan (off the heat), then allow time to cool until warm.
    2. Add the chocolate pieces, cream and icing sugar. Warm gently- on the lowest heat-stirring frequently, until the chocolate has melted and the sauce is smooth and hot. Do not let the sauce come to the boil.

    Tip

    Serve hot or warm
