Dissolve the coffee granules or powder in the boiling water in a small pan (off the heat), then allow time to cool until warm.
Add the chocolate pieces, cream and icing sugar. Warm gently- on the lowest heat-stirring frequently, until the chocolate has melted and the sauce is smooth and hot. Do not let the sauce come to the boil.
