Mocha Sauce

    Delicious chocolate and coffee sauce. If you have leftover chocolate from baking or otherwise, you can use it to make this sauce for desserts. Makes about 300 ml (half a pint).

    • 1tbsp instant coffee granules or powder
    • 1tbsp boiling water
    • 100g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate (about 70% cocoa solids) chopped or broken up
    • 175ml(6fl oz) single cream
    • 1tbsp icing sugar


    1. Dissolve the coffee granules or powder in the boiling water in a small pan (off the heat), then allow time to cool until warm.
    2. Add the chocolate pieces, cream and icing sugar. Warm gently- on the lowest heat-stirring frequently, until the chocolate has melted and the sauce is smooth and hot. Do not let the sauce come to the boil.


    Serve hot or warm
