Roast pork chops with orange sauce

About this recipe: This simple pork chops and orange dish is just perfect when you want a tasty and flavourful midweek supper but don't want to go to much effort. Great with mashed potato, fresh vegetables or rice.


Serves: 4 

  • 4 pork chops
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 25g butter
  • zest and juice of 2 oranges
  • 1 tablespoon prepared English mustard
  • 110g dark brown sugar

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Rub the pork chops with salt and pepper and allow to stand for 10 minutes to come up to room temperature.
  3. In a frying pan over a high heat, melt the butter and fry the chops for 2 minutes on each side. Transfer to an oven dish.
  4. Mix the orange zest and juice together with the mustard and the sugar and pour over the chops. Cover the dish with aluminium foil.
  5. Roast in the oven for 30 minutes then remove the foil for the last 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve.

Lovely dish. Very easy to make. Needs to be served with tasty accompaniment as the flavour is delicate ( I used sauté onions and red cabbage with Apple ). Would definitely make again - 02 Dec 2013
