    About this recipe: Take your Holiday Nougats to a new level with this tropical twist on an old Cuban/Spanish recipe of my grandmother's.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup simple syrup (melt equal parts Panela Nativo and water in a sucepan) (Available through Cuban Cuisine UK)
    • 1 cup honey
    • 6 egg whites, beaten and stiffened
    • 2 cups tasted almonds or hazelnuts
    • 1 package Goya Guava Wafers (Available through Cuban Cuisine UK)

    Method

    1. Mix syrup with honey with the stiffly beaten egg whites
    2. Add nuts and mix well
    3. Heat mixture in a heavy saucepan over medium heat, until very thick and almost candied
    4. Serve in a bowl lined with Goya Guava Wafers (Available through Cuban Cuisine UK)
