Mustard and balsamic sauce

    This mustard and balsamic sauce is great for meat dishes such as steak or pork. Add fresh herbs for some extra flavours.

    Serves: 2 

    • 200ml red wine
    • 1 shallot, finely sliced
    • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon wholegrain mustard
    • 1 sprig fresh thyme, chopped
    • 1 sprig fresh rosemary, chopped

    1. Begin by making a red wine reduction. In a saucepan over a medium heat, add the wine and bring to a simmer and cook until reduced by half. Add the shallots, vinegar, mustard and herbs and cook gently for 10 minutes.
    2. Remove from the heat and serve.
