About this recipe: This Christmas apricot and date mincemeat recipe is a family favourite and tried and tested with many friends and family members over the years. Flavourful and sweet, perfect for mince pies.

Makes: 4 jars mincemeat

  • 225g dried apricots
  • 450g mixed dried fruit
  • 450g stoned chopped dates
  • 225g shredded suet
  • 4 tablespoons marmalade
  • zest and juice of 1 lime
  • 450g muscovado sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mixed spice
  • 200ml brandy
  • 50ml Cointreau® orange liqueur

  1. Soak the dried apricots in water overnight. The next day, drain and chop. Combine the apricots in a bowl with the mixed dried fruit, dates and suet and mix well. Add the remainder of the ingredients and mix well.
  2. Transfer to sterilised jam jars and seal immediately.
