Gingerbread men cookies
These gingerbread men cookies are great fun to make for Christmas and a joy to prepare with the kids or members of the family who are young at heart.
Ingredients
Makes: 20 gingerbread men cookies
- 110g butter
- 200g brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
- 475g self raising flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

- Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a baking tray or line with baking parchment.
- In a saucepan over a medium heat, melt the butter and add the sugar and golden syrup. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Meanwhile, sift the flour into a bowl and add the salt, ginger and nutmeg. Add the butter syrup and knead into a dough. Turn out onto a floured board and roll to a 5mm thickness. Using a gingerbread cutter, cut to desired sizes then arrange on the prepared baking tray.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a rack for 1 hour before decorating and serving.

Recipe don't work far to dry it just crumbles x - 20 Dec 2015
Doesn't work, the recipe is far too dry. I had to put milk in it to get it to bind together. I would suggest using less flour. - 20 Nov 2015
This recipe was far too dry and wouldn't form a dough!! We had to add a fair amount of milk to turn the crumb like mixture into a dough for making the gingerbread men. We also found that it wasn't very gingery. - 03 Jan 2017
