Cheese and tomato oat savoury

    I acquired this recipe from a friend when I was a young 20 something and was low on cash at the time. It has three ingredients and I promise you, with a well flavoured cheese it's the best comfort food! You can vary the cheese, for instance, Double Gloucester with chives is nice but I usually use Aldi extra mature Cheddar. This feeds one person, or maybe I am greedy!

    Serves: 1 

    • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes
    • 4 tablespoons porridge oats
    • 110g grated cheese

    1. Preheat the oven to 200 C / Fan 180 C / Gas 6.
    2. Grease a 1L (2 pt) ovenproof dish with butter. Scatter half of the oats as a first layer then spoon half the tin of tomatoes on top, making sure the oats are covered. Add half of your chosen cheese, covering evenly.
    3. Repeat with a second layer of oats, tomatoes and cheese.
    4. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes. When the cheese starts going toasty brown it's done.
