Crispy Hog Roast Recipe for a Crackling Christmas

Christmas is an occasion when families come together in joy and enjoy the warmth of this great season. It is the time when everyone thinks of the good things and loves to be beside the ones they love. At such a time, food becomes as one of the most important things which can be the linking threads among the people. A good hog roast recipe at such a time of the year would be highly appropriate and will definitely be loved by everyone. So here is a quick, simple and easy suckling pig recipe that you can enjoy with your family.

    • A suckling pig of desired weight
    • Clementine.
    • Red onions.
    • Celery.
    • Carrots.
    • Black pepper.
    • Plain flour.
    • Water or chicken stalk.


    1. Other night before you are actually going to prepare the dish, score your pig with a sharp knife at least 2 cm deep.
    2. Once you are done with scoring the fat, you have to rub your pig with the old Christmas rub and let it be for at least one night.
    3. The morning you get up to actually prepare the dish, you should preheat the oven to maximum and pop Clementine into the mouth of the pig. The ears must also be covered before it goes into the oven.
    4. Roast the pig at 180 degree Celsius for at least four and a half hours. For the last hour, glaze it with marmalade and sprinkle black pepper and salt for some flavors.
    5. Allow your pig to cool down and chop it up into pieces. The liquid in the tray can be served as gravy for the hog roast.
