Place all ingredients apart from the lemon juice and cream into a saucepan. Bring to the boil whisking continuously until thickened, then simmer very gently for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat, add the lemon juice and blend till smooth with a hand blender or a food processor. Return to the saucepan and heat through again. Pour into a heated tureen or individual serving dishes and swirl over the cream.
