Method Prep:30min › Cook:10min › Extra time:20min › Ready in:1hr
Combine the flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a large bowl. Add water slowly until it forms a smooth, non-sticky dough. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
In another bowl mix the hot water and treacle or molasses. Then in a shallow dish, cover the bottom with sesame seeds. Put to one side.
Take walnut sized pieces of the dough and roll in to a rope, then join the ends of the dough together to make a circle. Brush the dough with the water and treacle mixture, then gently put the bagel into the sesame seeds so the dough gets covered. Place the simit rings on a baking tray lined with parchment.
Preheat oven to 220 C / Gas 7 and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, till golden brown.
