    About this recipe: No added sugar chewy oat and raisin cookies. Simple, easy to make, and no added sugar, also easy to chew for people who have some problems chewing. Recipe is an adaptation from a recipe on the Canderel® website.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 24 biscuits

    • 300g plain flour
    • 3 teaspoons baking powder
    • 5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • 7 tablespoons Canderel®
    • 255g rolled oats
    • 200g raisins
    • 375g margarine (preferably low fat)
    • 6 egg whites, lightly beaten
    • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:35min 

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4 and grease two baking trays.
    2. Sift the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into a large bowl. Add the Canderel®, rolled oats and raisins and mix well.
    3. Melt the margarine (a minute or two in the microwave) then pour over the dry mixture. Add egg whites as well as maple syrup or honey and mix it all together until it resembles a sticky mess and there are no dry pockets. Place dollops of the mixture onto the prepared baking tray about 6cm big.
    4. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before enjoying.

    Substitutions

    The Candarel® can be substituted with Splenda® if necessary.
