About this recipe:This is an easy to cook and delicious cake that my granny makes. Cocoa powder can easily make a dry cake, which is why my granny always used cooking chocolate. Use plain chocolate if you don't have cooking chocolate.

Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and line two sandwich tins.
Cream together the butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Add the flour and mix gently till smooth.
Melt one bar of chocolate and add to the mixture. (If you find the mixture too runny at this point, add up to 3 tablespoons of flour. It should have a nice dropping consistency.) Divide the mixture between the tins.
Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, or till a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
Melt the second bar of chocolate.
Turn one cake upside down on a serving plate. Spread half the chocolate on the top, then sandwich with the second cake. Drizzle the remaining chocolate over top.
If this is for a special event use chocolate buttercream or chocolate fondant for the the top and middle like in the picture.
