Skint Dad's doner kebab

    1 hour 30 min

I decided to replicate a classic doner kebab recipe and, hopefully, a healthier option too. Plus, it’s really expensive for a kebab – but here you get a doner kebab recipe to feed a family of four for less than £5! Serve with pitta bread, couscous and a salad.

    32 people made this

    Serves: 4

    • 400g minced lamb
    • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
    • 1 small onion, grated
    • 1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
    • 1 teaspoon dried coriander
    • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
    • 1 teaspoon plain flour
    • 1 pinch salt and pepper

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:1hr20min  ›  Ready in:1hr30min

    1. Preheat the oven to 220 C / Gas 7. Grease a 450g loaf tin.
    2. Put everything in a bowl and mix together well. Transfer to the prepared loaf tin and smooth the top.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes turning half way through. When cooked, the lamb will no longer be pink in the centre. Remove from the oven, slice thinly and serve.

Great recipe and in my opinion much nicer than a take away kebab. .added a little chilli powder to the mix to spice it up  -  18 Jan 2016

Great recipe. And a lot cheaper than a takeaway. Loved them.  -  08 Jul 2015

tried this. tastes nothing like a doner kebab. Don't know what spices go into making the doner kebab marinade but it isn't these. Also very dry  -  04 Dec 2017
