Kat's hummus

    Made with chickpeas, lemon, garlic, sesame and olive oil. There is nothing more tasty and satisfying than making your very own hummus. The best thing about this recipe and many more like it, you can tweak the oil content to make the perfect consistency for your individual preference. Perfect with warm pitta, in wraps and with crudités.

    Serves: 8 

    • 2 (400g) tins chickpeas
    • juice of 1/2 lemon
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 splash sesame oil (or tahini paste)
    • chopped red chilli, to taste (optional)
    • olive oil, to taste

    1. In a food processor combine the chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, sesame oil and chilli (if using) and blitz until a smooth paste forms.
    2. Once thoroughly combined, add a drizzle of olive oil and blitz further and keep adding more oil until you get the desired consistency.
    3. When you have you desired consistency, transfer to a bowl and enjoy.


    For an extra kick,you can add more garlic or some chopped chilli and chopped coriander works well too.
