Herman rock buns

    A yummy quick recipe perfect for the kid's lunch boxes. This recipe uses a Herman sweet sourdough starter, the recipe for which can be found in the tip below.

    Makes: 12 Herman rock buns

    • 250g Herman sourdough starter
    • 70g butter, softened
    • 125g plain flour
    • 1 generous tablespoon golden syrup
    • 1 generous handful chocolate chips

    1. Preheat the oven to 220 C / 200 C fan / Gas 7.
    2. Combine the Herman sourdough starter, butter, flour and syrup in a non-metallic bowl and mix well with a wooden spoon until it forms a sticky, smooth mixture. Add the chocolate chips and mix until they are evenly dispersed, then with a spoon, drop even blobs of the mixture onto a greased baking tray.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 a 20 minutes until risen and golden brown. Remove from the oven and serve warm, or transfer to a cooling rack to cool before enjoying.
