This is a famous Italian chocolate cake originally from Capri but popular throughout southern Italy, where every family has its own recipe. It's a rich, dense chocolate cake that's made either with ground almonds or walnuts. Walnuts are used here, but you can substitute them with the same weight of ground almonds, if liked.
I had seen a completely gluten free recipe for this cake but didn't have quite enough ground almonds to make that! I searched and found this instead and I'm very glad I did. It's easy enough to make (a few bowls to wash up but hey), cooks up a treat and is a delicious, not overly sweet, soft crumbed chocolate cake. Thank you for sharing the recipe 😊 - 16 Sep 2017
Good flavor, but very dry and crumbly. Similar to a brownie. Will be good crumbled over vanilla ice cream. - 28 Sep 2017 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
