Parmesan puff pastry stars

Parmesan puff pastry stars

Be the first to make this!

About this recipe: Parmesan and puff pastry are all you need to create a tasty and versatile party nibble. Cut out stars for Christmas or hearts for Valentine's Day, then enjoy as they are or sandwich with a variety of fillings, such as salmon, cheese or prosciutto. Be creative and enjoy!

Serves: 6

  • 2 (230g) puff pasty sheets
  • 50g grated Parmesan cheese

Prep:20min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:15min freezing  ›  Ready in:55min

  1. Preheated the oven 180 C / Gas 4. Line a baking tray with parchment.
  2. Prick the pastry sheets with a fork. Brush the first sheet with a little water and sprinkle with half the Parmesan. Lay the second sheet on top and proceed in the same way, brushing with water and sprinkling with the remaining Parmesan.
  3. Using your favorite biscuit cutter, cut out the shapes you like (stars for Christmas, hearts for Valentine's Day, bats for Halloween, and so on). Or simply cut out twelve 7-8cm rounds. Place on the baking tray and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes (or 5 minutes in the freezer).
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oven, cool and then sandwich with fillings, if liked. For a great Christmas starter I used smoked salmon, cream cheese and lettuce.

To create a nice "starry" effect I cut out smaller stars in the middle and overlapped one another, a bit offset. I also cut out a smaller star and put on top... be creative and have fun with it!
