Flour, butter, eggs, sugar and fresh oranges - that's more or less it! You only need basic ingredients to make this Italian orange cake. Bake it in a ring mould or bundt cake tin so it looks lovely too!

4 eggs, divided
400g caster sugar
4 oranges, zested and juiced
400g plain flour
15g baking powder

Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and flour a 25cm round cake tin.
In a clean bowl, with clean beaters, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
In a different bowl, beat the butter and caster sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolks, one at the time; beat well after each addition. Stir in the orange zest and juice. Sift in the flour and baking powder; stir well. Gently fold in whipped egg whites until well combined; pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or unti a skewer inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean. Remove from oven, cool and serve.
