Oaty bars

    These are the perfect snack for after school, or just any time you like. You can use chocolate chips or raisins, it's up to you!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 2 

    • 50g margarine
    • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
    • 25g caster sugar
    • 75g self-raising flour
    • 50g rolled oats
    • 50g chocolate chips or raisins

    Method
    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:30min cooling  ›  Ready in:1hr 

    1. Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5. Grease a small square baking tray and line with baking parchment.
    2. Melt the margarine, syrup and sugar in a saucepan over a medium heat until completely melted. Pour the melted mixture into the flour and oats. Stir until it forms a thick dough. Fold in the chocolate chips or raisins. Transfer to the prepared baking tray and press evenly into the base with the back of a spoon.
    3. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown and firm. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 20 to 30 minutes before removing from the tin. Cut into slices and then eat!

    Lovely and so easy to make,. I made these for my daughter and husband and they loved them. I dont normally like cereal bars but as these were more cake like I loved them too, so it's thumbs up all round, thank you 👍  -  25 May 2017
