About this recipe: A smaller apple crumble with a delicious twist in the crumble. Serve warm with custard or ice cream.

Serves: 2 

  • 1 large cooking apple - peeled, cored and diced
  • 1 teaspoon dark corn syrup (or golden syrup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 150ml plain flour
  • 3 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon desiccated coconut
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 50g butter, melted

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
  2. Put the apple pieces into a small oven dish. Flatten slightly with a large spoon then drizzle the syrup over and sprinkle over the cinnamon.
  3. Put the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix in the melted butter, breaking down any large clumps. Spoon the flour mix over the apples and spread evenly. Place the dish on a baking tray.
  4. Bake in the middle of the oven for 25 to 30 minutes till golden brown. Serve with custard or ice cream.


It's important to put the dish on a baking tray as this really helps to cook the apple.
