    About this recipe: A beautiful moist cake which kids will adore! This chocolate sponge cake will be a hit for afternoon tea.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 10 

    • 150g plain flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder (do not heap)
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 3 eggs, beaten
    • 175g unsalted butter, softened
    • 175g caster sugar
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 2 to 3 tablespoons Nutella®
    • icing sugar, to dust

    Method
    Prep:20min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease two 20cm cake tins and line with baking parchment.
    2. Sift the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder into a bowl. Add the eggs, butter and sugar and mix well. Finally add the milk and beat until well incorporated. Divide the mixture equally between the two cake tins.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 to 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes and sandwich with Nutella®. Dust with icing sugar and enjoy.

    Tip

    I do not find this necessary but you could add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture.
