Spicy chilli tomato dip

About this recipe: Ideal to make as a dip. Why not serve at a party with some Mexican tortilla chips or some crispy fresh vegetables.

Serves: 12 

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon crushed chilli flakes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped green pepper
  • 1 fresh red chilli, chopped
  • 1/2 tin chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoon tomato puree

  1. Add the oil to a pan over a moderate heat; once warm add garlic, cayenne, paprika and chilli flakes, cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Add onion, pepper and chilli cook for 10 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes and puree and cook for a further 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat allow to cool then blitz with a hand blender until smooth. Pop in a container and put in fridge, suitable for freezing.
