About this recipe:
A traditional Brazilian caipirinha is a drink like no other! Made with cachaça and muddled lime, it's a refreshing cocktail that's easy to make.
Makes: 1 caipirinha
1 1/2 tablespoons caster sugar, or to taste
- Cut the ends off the lime and discard. Slice in half and remove the white pith from the centre, which can make your caipirinha bitter. Cut the lime into 6 to 8 pieces.
- Place lime pieces in a glass with the skin facing down. Add sugar. Muddle, avoiding bruising the skin too much to prevent bitterness.
- Add ice and cachaça, then stir and enjoy!
...is the most popular alcohol in Brazil, a distilled spirit made from the juice of sugarcane. It's available at many off-licenses and supermarkets.
