Homemade cheese crackers

    Make your own cheesy crackers at home. Use different shaped mini cookie cutters that the kids will love! Great for lunch boxes and birthday parties.

    Serves: 5 

    • 225g grated mature Cheddar cheese
    • 125g plain flour
    • 55g butter, cut into cubes
    • 3/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons cold water

    1. Combine Cheddar cheese, flour, butter and salt in a food processor; pulse until dough is consistency of course sand. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until dough is moistened.
    2. Wrap dough in cling film and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
    3. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
    4. Roll dough onto a lightly floured work surface and cut into desired shapes, such as flowers or fish, using a cookie cutter. Arrange shapes on the prepared baking tray.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and crispy, 15 to 16 minutes.

    I love this recipe! I had to add an extra tablespoon and a half of water, but that has more to do with the air than the recipe. I used a pizza cutter to make square goldfish. It saves a lot of time and they are a great size for my toddler!  -  26 Jan 2018  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
