Slow cooker Philly steak sandwich

    Perfectly seasoned beef made in the slow cooker. Perfect for making Philly cheese steak sandwiches to serve with a cold beer! To serve, gently fry some sliced onion and sliced green pepper in a pan. Place meat on long rolls and top with onion and green pepper and Swiss cheese. Leave open-faced and grill until the cheese just starts to brown.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1/2 large onion, sliced
    • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 450g beef sirloin, cut into bite-size strips, or more to taste
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
    • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
    • 2 tablespoons bourbon whisky
    • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon hot chilli sauce
    • 1 (340ml) bottle beer
    • 2 beef stock cubes

    Method

    1. Spread onion and garlic on the bottom of a slow cooker; layer beef over onion and garlic. Sprinkle cumin, black pepper, chilli powder, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, thyme, marjoram and basil over beef; top with bourbon, soy sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and hot chilli sauce. Pour beer over beef mixture and add stock cubes.
    2. Cook on Low, stirring every hour or so, for 8 hours (or High for 4 hours).

    It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. I love tons of seasoning and flavor and this just didn't have it. That being said, you can add toppings to make it more flavorful. I love to cook things that carry enough flavor on their own.  -  20 Jun 2017  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

    AH-MAZING!!! My fam killed the whole crock pot and asked when was I making more! Got a house full of college students so this was an immediate hit!
