Homemade tomato soup with a scary spider web of cream to add some Halloween fun. If the web does not work out first time, simply stir it into the soup and start again.

Ingredients
Serves: 4
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion, halved and sliced
2 cloves garlic, smashed
2 (800g) tins peeled plum tomatoes with juice
250ml water
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
black pepper, to taste
red chilli flakes, to taste
1 teaspoon celery seeds
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 tablespoon sugar
sour cream, creme fraiche or cream, to decorate

Heat butter and olive oil in a saucepan. Cook onions and garlic on low heat for 5 minutes.
Add the tomatoes with liquid, water, salt, pepper, chilli flakes, celery seeds, oregano and sugar. Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, 15 minutes.
Puree the soup with a hand blender and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Pour soup into bowls. Put the cream into a freezer bag and snip off a corner. Use the bag to paint a spiral of cream on each bowl of soup.
With a knife, draw lines from the centre of the spiral to the edge to make the spider web effect.
