    Quick and comforting macaroni and cheese is simple to prepare with 7 ingredients you may already have in your cupboards and fridge.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 225g macaroni pasta
    • 55g butter
    • 30g plain flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • freshly ground black pepper to taste
    • 475ml milk
    • 225g grated Cheddar cheese

    Method

    1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Cook macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, 8 minutes. Drain.
    2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat; stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth, about 5 minutes. Slowly pour milk into butter-flour mixture while continuously stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbling, about 5 minutes. Add Cheddar cheese to milk mixture and stir until cheese is melted, 2 to 4 minutes.
    3. Fold macaroni into cheese sauce until coated.

    Fantastic simple recipe. Made my first ever beshemel sauce from scratch and it was so easy, thanks to this clear and concise recipe! I didn't have enough cheddar so added some mozzarella and parmesan to make up the weight and it was delicious. Will be making it again!  -  22 Oct 2017

    For a simple macaroni and cheese recipe as the title suggests, this recipe was fabulous! I'm throwing out my box macaroni! My son loved this recipe as well.
