    About this recipe: This versatile recipe gives you a simple tomato-based sauce you can make in bulk in a blender or food processor, freeze in portions, then use any time you want to make pasta, pizza or a tomato-based soup.

    Serves: 12 

    • 850g passata tomato sauce
    • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
    • 2 teaspoons dried basil
    • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
    • 2 teaspoons onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 3/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (optional)

    1. Blend tomato sauce, olive oil, sugar, thyme, basil, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and bicarbonate of soda together in a blender on high until sauce is smooth and well-mixed, 1 to 2 minutes.
    2. Divide sauce among twelve 120ml freezer-safe containers; store in freezer until ready to use.
    3. Remove individual containers from freezer to thaw before using, about 60 minutes.
