    About this recipe: These sugar cookies are a favourite in our family. The only problem with these cookies is that they tend to be eaten so fast that one batch is never enough.

    Ingredients

    • 250 grams White sugar
    • 225 grams Butter
    • 350 grams Plain flour
    • 3 Egg yolks
    • 1 teaspoon Bicarbonate of soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon Cream of tartar
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

    Method

    1. Preheat oven to 180c (350f). Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
    2. Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla.
    3. Add flour, bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar. Stir.
    4. Form dough into walnut size balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Don't flatten. Bake for 12 minutes, until tops are cracked and just turning colour.
    5. Cool on cooling rack, and try to store the cookies in an airtight container before they all get eaten...
