I am always a bit wary about desserts with raw eggs, that's why I make my tiramisu without eggs. This is a recipe that I have perfected over the years, and it tastes very much like the original.

50g icing sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
40ml amaretto almond liqueur
250g mascarpone cheese
milk as needed
200ml double cream
a few drops vanilla extract
2 to 3 small cups freshly brewed espresso coffee, cooled
200g lady fingers
unsweetened cocoa powder

In a bowl add icing sugar, vanilla sugar and half of the amaretto, stir. Add the mascarpone and beat with an electric mixer, the mixture will be rather stiff, so add enough milk to make it smooth, a tablespoon at a time.
Whip the cream till stiff and fold into the mascarpone mixture. Add a few drops vanilla extract.
Add the espresso with the rest of the amaretto to a shallow plate or wide bowl. Dip the lady fingers and place them next to each other in a glass bowl. After the entire bottom is covered, add a layer of mascarpone mixture. w
Repeat this with the rest of the lady fingers dipped in amaretto and the mascarpone mixture.
Cover with cling foil and chill for at least 3 hours.
