375g plain flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
500g caster sugar
265ml vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon extract
60ml orange juice
150g caster sugar
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease three 20x10cm loaf tins.
In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking powder, poppy seeds and 500g caster sugar. Add the eggs, milk, oil, vanilla and lemon extract; mix until smooth, about 1 minute. Pour mixture evenly into the prepared tins.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the loaves comes out clean. Cool loaves in tins for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack.
Combine orange juice with 150g sugar and lemon extract; stir well. Pour this mixture over the loaf cakes while they are still hot. Allow loaf to cool completely before serving.
