Banana porridge with turmeric

    14 min

Turmeric adds a nice yellow colour and spice to this banana porridge. Add a spoonful of peanut butter for a great breakfast to start the day.

    Serves: 1

    • 240ml water
    • 40g oats
    • 1/2 banana, sliced

    2. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in cinnamon. Stir porridge and cover saucepan; let sit until thickened, about 2 minutes.
    3. Transfer porridge to a bowl and top with peanut butter.

Milk can be used in place of the water, if desired.

I loved this twist on oatmeal. I only had fresh turmeric so I used my smallest shredder and it worked out just fine. I did add 2 packets of Truvia and a splash of milk. I did not care for the peanut butter in the oatmeal, it seemed it was competing with the turmeric. I will leave it out next time I make it. Other than that, I loved it.  -  15 Dec 2016  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

Love this. Even with or without the peanut butter. I don't need sugar, it's healthy. It curbs my appetite.  -  08 Nov 2018  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
