A very easy recipe to cook braising steak that the family will all enjoy! Perfect for a cold day to warm your bellys up ! Always looked forward to going to my nannans when I knew she was cooking this !!
Have your braising steak out on a chopping board and pour some soy sauce onto the braising steaks then rub it into the meat. Cute into chunks, sprinkle with flour then move all the chunks round the chopping board to soak up soy sauce and flour.
Pour sunflower oil into a non stick frying pan, enough for a shallow fry then brown off the meat. When browned transfer to slow cooker.
Peel carrots and cook into quarters , also chop the onion if using then transfer to slow cooker.
Boil kettle then pour 600ml of boiling water into a jug and stir in 1 oxo cube then pour into slow cooker and repeat two more times till all 3 coo cubes are in the slow cooker.
Then add 2 tbsp of soy sauce, a pinch of salt and a pinch of mixed herbs then stir.
Put your slow cooker on low and leave for 4-5 hours or longer if you wish to do so.
10 minutes before ready to serve transfer the portion amount to be used that night into a pan , mix 3-4 tsp of bisto into a bit of cold water then pour into the pan , put a lid on and let it simmer. When it has thickened it is ready to serve.
Put what's left in the slow cooker in to a Tupperware tub and freeze ready for another night. (Always better to freeze when the bisto hasn't been added as you will get a better result when going to eat again just simple heat then add the bisto)
