As much water as required to fill your saucepan (with a beef stock cube)
1 or 2 leeks
A handful of lentils
1. Heat up the oil or lard in a pot and braise the chopped onions in it until they get a nice golden brown. Add the stewing steak and fry until the meat is brown. Add the grated garlic caraway seeds and paprika and fry for a few minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and the water and cook for about an hour until all veggies are cooked. You may want to thicken the goulash at the end with some cornflour.
