Luxiously Easy Chocolate Cake

    This chocolate cake is quick and simple to make and comes out delicious every time.

    Ingredients

    • 215g self-raising flour
    • 250g caster sugar
    • 250g softened unsalted butter
    • 1tsp vanilla extract
    • 4 medium eggs
    • 35g cocoa powder
    • 1-2tbsp double cream or milk

    Method

    1. Cream the softened butter and the sugar together until smooth and fully combined.
    2. Add the 4 eggs and whisk together.
    3. In a separate bowl, sift the flour and the cocoa powder together. Continue whisking the other ingredients in the main bowl, gradually adding in the dry ingredients until mixed fully.
    4. Add the vanilla extract. For a richer and smoother cake add cream and/or milk.
    5. Pour the mixture into a normal sized and lined cake tin. Put in the oven (190*C/375*F) and bake for 25-30 minutes.
    6. Leave to cool. Once cool, either serve the cake or cover with chocolate icing/frosting (easy frosting; whipped cream, cocoa powder and icing sugar to your chosen quantities).
