Chocolate, oat and peanut butter no-bake treats

    25 min

An adult will need to make this mixture of oats, peanut butter, cocoa powder and milk but once they are cold, kids can have fun decorating (or just eating) them!

    2 people made this

    Serves: 24

    • 400g caster sugar
    • 120g butter
    • 120ml milk
    • 30g cocoa powder
    • 175g peanut butter
    • 250g quick cooking oats
    • 75g chopped peanuts (optional)
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. Place a piece of greaseproof paper or foil on a baking tray. Combine sugar, butter, milk and cocoa powder in a medium saucepan.
    2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to the boil.
    3. Remove from heat; cool for 1 minute.
    4. Add peanut butter; stir to blend. Add oats, peanuts and vanilla; stir to mix well. Quickly drop mixture by heaped teaspoons onto greaseproof paper or foil. Cool completely. Store in cool, dry place.

Awesome recipe best ones I have ever had. Only think I would add is the amount of time you should cook while at a boil. I used old fashon oats and it needed to boil for about 2-3 minutes for it to set properly. Must make again  -  22 Mar 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

Try this recipe with brown sugar instead of the white sugar. Yum!  -  13 Jun 2004  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

I am sure these would have tasted fantastic had I not used steel cut oats. The bag said "Ready in 5 Minutes" so I assumed they were quick cooking! They smelled great but turned out awful! I did not have any quick cooking oats on hand so for my second batch I used Rice Krispies instead and they turned out delicious!  -  08 Jul 2008  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
