Easy peasy cottage pie

    Ingredients

    • 500g of minced beef I prefer less than 5% fat as its non gristly
    • Beef gravy granules
    • 3 large carrots
    • 1 beef oxo cube ( beef stock)
    • Pinch of salt
    • Pinch of pepper black or white
    • 2 large onions
    • 7-9 potatoes
    • Water
    • Table spoon of butter
    • Drop of milk
    • Table spoon of vegetable oil

    Method

    1. Peel and chop potatoes and add to pan of water bring to the boil and then cover and simmer until potatoes have softened
    2. Peel and slice carrots and add to pan if water bring to the boil and then covet and simmer until also softened
    3. Peal and slice onions
    4. Add cooking oil to pan and fry beef mince meat and onions together with salt and pepper until brown
    5. Drain cooked potatoes and add butter and milk mash until smooth
    6. Make gravy granules with boiling water until desired thickness and add beef oxo/ beef stock
    7. Pre heat oven to 180 degrees or gas mark 5
    8. add beef mince mixed with onions to gravy and stir well add carrots mix well
    9. Using oven proof dish preferably crock or Pyrex add beef mince mixture
    10. Top with mashed potatoes and fork to make lines
    11. Cook for half an hour to 45 minutes until mash is golden Brown
    12. Serve and enjoy

    Tip

    You can add any extra vegetables of your choice I.e garden peas
